Meet Mabel!
We rescued this sweet chocolate pittie mama back in August 2025 after being overbred and abandoned in Pescadero. She was diagnosed with heartworm and underwent treatment but she is officially heartworm negative now!
Mabel brings a smile to pretty much anyone’s face who meets her, and it is pretty obvious why. She is an absolute bundle of love with the sweetest and goofiest energy! Mabel is happiest by your side and is incredibly affectionate. She is overall a pretty low maintenance dog— she enjoys her two walks per day and otherwise is down to chill the rest of the day. She is great when left alone— she is fully potty trained and doesn’t destroy anything— though she does like to dig in the trash (you can take the dog out of the street but not the street out of the dog) so we recommend keeping your trash in an enclosed bin or somewhere out of reach. She is extremely entertaining and is guaranteed to keep you laughing with her little quirks.
Mabel loves allll of the attention and for this reason prefers to be the only pet in the home. She can be a bit protective with her person when it comes to other dogs, but with people she is an absolute love. She isn’t necessarily ‘reactive’ —no barking or lunging at other dogs and can be in the same vicinity as them but she does not like them in her close personal space, most likely due to trauma she endured in her past life.
She is good with kids. Mabel is around 5 years old and is available for local adoption or can travel to the U.S.or Canada!

“It has been such a pleasure to share my life with Mabel the past few months. She is such a loving companion, and very goofy! This beautiful mama has brought so much joy and laughter to my days and whoever she ends up with will truly be so lucky.
She is curious and very smart, and super food motivated. I think she would enjoy and really thrive with a loving training routine. At home she is super chill, she mostly sleeps all day and is perfectly potty trained. She can be left at the house for many hours without destroying anything, but you’ll definitely want to make sure all food and trash are out of reach as this girl loves any opportunity for a snack!
Mabel is super dedicated to her person, her favorite place to be is next to you on the couch, or in your lap. Her funny postures will crack you up, and her excited wiggles will be there to welcome you home every time. Mabel prefers to be the only pet in the home, and feels most comfortable with familiar routines and calm environments outside the house, though she is bravely and curiously exploring new experiences. I can’t say enough good things about this very special dog, it’s has been an honor to care for her during this time.”
